the sweet ocean air blew in mo's face as he hung on the mast of the black angel. mo looked back one last time at the docks of france and then looked back out to the sea. he inhaled deeply and exhaled and looked down at his new mother.

mo had just been adopted last week from a horible orphanige that he spent his whole life in. mo still missed his freinds but was happy to have some one kind to take care of him. "mortimer, come down here please! you shouldnt be up there!" mo made a sour face as his new mother "alise" called him by his full name. he looked down and grabed a rope and slid down it to the deck and his mother nearly shreeked from the fear that he was going to fall.

"why cant i be up there alise?" mo looked at her with a sad expresion on his face.

"you might fall and hurt yourself or worse..." she hesitated at the thought "you might kill ypurself to..." mo felt guilty as she made a worried expresion and sighed.

"i wont go up there agian, i promise" mo looked at her hopeing that would stop his guilt and it did.

later that day a hour befor supper he walked out of his cabin and went on deck and he was the first one to notice... a storm was heading there way. he ran to the captins cabin to find a empty cabin so then mo ran to the docks and spoted the captin talking to a sailor. mo ran and the captin turned and said in a soft gental voice "wow there whats youre hury?" he looked down at mo. the man was about 2 times his size in hight.

"there a storm!" mo blurted out.

"im well aware of that weve got every thing under control."said the captin with a broad smile.

"shouldnt you take down the sails?" mo said as the captin was just about to walk away.

"i told you boy ive got every thing under control" the captin said geting irritated. "go to youre cabin and rest for now. and we-" the captin was interupter by a man up in the crows nest.

"pirates!" the man yelled.

pirates! thought mo with a grin.

"get the canons ready arm yourselves men pirates!" the captin yelled as a warning bell was rong and sudenly the deck was swarming with people.

"zi!" the cooks assistant ran into the kitchen of the great bell and smiled "a ship! the captin says one of the letters is on that ship!" the boy grind.
